Join the Carnival celebrtions in Loulé - three days of parades and fun. This is the longest running Carnival celebration in Portugal - 119 years of parades, satire, floats and dancers. Daily parades on 2, 3 and 4 of March 2025.
This year the theme of Loulé Carnival is 'O Carnaval não é uma seca!' - a play on the word seca which can mean dry or drought as well as boring. The colourful and satirical floats poke fun at politicians, home-grown and international, as well as superstars, while drawing attention to the shortage of water and low levels in the dams in the Algarve.
Expect lots of music and dancing, with samba dancers sashaying their way along the streets. Look out for giant figures and lots of entertainment.
