Description

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in Europe with more than 3000 years and everything has started in the neighbourhoods of Alfama and Mouraria. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the Visigoths and the Moors were some of the civilizations who lived around here and have left their influence until Lisbon was conquered by D. Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal in 1147. These are also the areas better preserved after the Great Earthquake of Lisbon, in 1755 and they haven’t changed much since. From the shores of the Tagus river up to S. Jorge Castle, you will have the opportunity to feel the mix of cultures so unique to Lisbon. The charming narrow streets, the famous “azulejos” on the walls, the clothes hanging on the balconies, the old fashion trams, the many steps up and down, the delicious local food, the friendly locals and the soul of the Portuguese culture, Fado. From our meeting point at Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), our guides will take you on a fantastic Lisbon Walking Tour, visiting places like Sé Cathedral, the narrow streets of Alfama, Portas do Sol and Santa Luzia viewpoints, São Jorge Castle, The National Pantheon, St Vincent Church, 25 of April Bridge, Christ the King, Casa dos Bicos, Beco do Fado, the street art in Mouraria and much more.
